Miami basketball alums, centers Lynn Kidd and Norchad Omier, forwards Matthew Cleveland and Jordan Miller and guards Kyshawn George and Woogla Poplar are participating in the NBA Summer League that begins for all 30 teams on Thursday in Las Vegas.
Some teams previously participated in the California Classic and Salt Lake City Summer Leagues that conclude on Tuesday. Cleveland is playing with the Dallas Mavericks, George the Washington Wizards, Miller the Los Angeles Clippers, Omier the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kidd the Orlando Magic and Poplar the Chicago Bulls.
Kidd is attempting to earn a camp training invite. George is entering his second NBA season and Miller his third. Cleveland, Omier and Poplar are on exhibit 10 contracts, which means they will at least participate in training camp in September.
Dallas has four players solely listed as guards and seven as forwards on its summer league roster. Cleveland is listed as a guard/forward. Former Miami forward Matt Cross, who also played for Louisville, Massachusetts, and SMU during his college career, is also on the Dallas roster.
Matthew Cleveland has agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal with the Dallas Mavericks, per @BryanKalbrosky.

Cleveland played for the Miami Hurricanes for the past two seasons and closed out his final 12 games strong, averaging 24.4 PPG shooting 51.2 FG%.

Miller earned a much bigger role playing in 37 games with the Clippers in 2024-25 after playing in eight contests on a two-way contract in 2023-24. Miller is one of five players on the Clippers' summer league roster with at least two years of NBA experience.
Omier is listed as a center at 6'7 but is often speculated to be shorter. Kadin Shedrick, who played at Texas, is the only other center on the Cleveland summer league roster. Cleveland begins Summer League play on Thursday at 5:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time on NBATV.
George is entering his second season after being selected 24th overall in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft following one season at Miami. George averaged 8.7 points per game, 4.2 rebounds,2.5 assists and 1.0 assist during his rookie season in 2024-25.
I asked Jeremy Castleberry straight up why Kobe Brown and Jordan Miller are on the summer league team

Castleberry: The more opportunities you have to play is best for those guys to get real reps… it's about doing the right things… it's gonna be about being connectors. pic.twitter.com/9VEfTFxtUj
Kidd is one of three centers on the Orlando Summer League roster, with Kylor Kelley from Oregon State and Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, who played for Louisville, North Carolina State and Tennessee. Huntley-Hatfield is also a rookie, while Kelley has one year of NBA experience.
After three seasons at Miami and one with Villanova, Poplar will have an opportunity with Chicago in the Summer League and in training camp. Poplar is one of seven guards on the Chicago summer league roster. Poplar could potentially play small forward in a smaller lineup.
George and Miller are the only Miami alums guaranteed to be on NBA rosters in 2025-26. The NBA Summer League will provide the other four players a chance to earn spots on NBA rosters. Expect some of the Miami alums to earn opportunities in the NBA G-League.
