In ACC After Dark, Wake Forest stopped Virginia inside their own 10 yardline to preserve a win and California beat Louisville in overtime a few minutes later to descend the conference standings into chaos. Five ACC teams have one conference loss. Louisville took its second ACC loss to match Miami.
If three or more teams are tied in the ACC, the first two tiebreakers are "A. Combined head-to-head win-percentage among the tied teams if all tied teams are common opponents. B. If all tied teams are not common opponents, the tied team that defeated each of the other tied teams." Via The Sporting News.
Jeff Hauser of The Sporting News listed five more ACC tiebreakers. Miami would essentially need Louisville to lose once more and SMU to lose twice to have a chance at the ACC Championship Game. Miami plays the final game of the regular season at Pittsburgh, which will likely be a critical game in the ACC race.
Miami needs to focus on winning out. Wins against North Carolina State next week and at Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh are the only way for Miami to keep its hopes alive in the ACC which is more of a long shot and in the College Football Playoff.
#14 Virginia falls to Wake Forest, leaving 6 ACC teams with one-loss (Cal & Louisville are in OT).

Miami should pass Virginia and Louisville in the College Football Playoff rankings released on Tuesday. Virginia was 14th and Louisville was 15th in the initial 2025 College Football Playoff rankings released last week. Georgia Tech was 17th and Miami 18th in the first CFP rankings.
The ACC was thrown into chaos with the results on Saturday. Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, SMU and Virginia are tied for first in the ACC with 5-1 conference records. Duke is a half-game behind that quartet with a 4-1 ACC record. Louisville is 4-2 in the ACC after the loss and Miami improved to 3-2 in the conference with the win over Syracuse.
