ACC places November 2 Miami at Georgia Tech game Six-Day Flex Window
Miami at Georgia Tech on November 9 is one of five games placed on a six-day flex window as announced by the ACC on Monday. The other games that are on the six-day flex window for November 9 are Syracuse at Boston College, Duke at NC State, Clemson at Virginia Tech and Virginia at Pitt.
The Clemson, Miami and Pittsburgh games could all have major implications in the race for an ACC Championship game berth. Pittsburgh plays at SMU on Saturday night which is essentially an elimination game in the competition to earn a spot in Charlotte on December 7.
Pittsburgh will have a major role in November to decide who plays in the ACC Championship Game. Clemson plays at Pittsburgh on November 16. Clemson, Miami and SMU do not play this season. If Clemson and SMU beat Pittsburgh there is an excellent chance those two and Miami finish undefeated in the ACC.
Per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald on Monday, a tie between Clemson, Miami and SMU would be decided by the winning percentage of conference opponents in conference games only. That is the fifth tiebreaker. Clemson's opponents are currently 16-12 in the ACC, Miami's are 16-22 and SMU's 13-24.
Clemson and Miami would likely be the first choices to play in either the 3:30 kick off window or a prime time game on ESPN. Miami will play its sixth consecutive game on ABC or ESPN this week with a noon kickoff on ABC versus Duke. Miami beat Florida 41-17 in the season opener and had a 3:30 PM kick-off on ABC.
With Miami currently in position for a berth in the College Football Playoff, they will continue to receive sought-after kickoff times through the final four games of the season. After Georgia Tech, Miami has a bye before hosting Wake Forest on November 23 and the regular season finale on November 30 at Syracuse.
