Malachi Toney added another award to his amazing 2025 season when he was named a true freshman All-American and the national Offensive True Freshman of the Year by On3 on Monday. Toney previously earned ACC Offensive Freshman of the Year and Freshman of the Year last week.
Not only is Toney a true freshman, he reclassified from the 2026 class to 2025. Toney has 84 receptions, one catch behind Xavier Restrepo for the Miami single-season record and set the Miami one-year standard for freshmen with 970 yards in 2025 with seven touchdowns.
Toney added 17 carries for 89 yards and a TD and four completions in six attempts for 89 yards and two scores. In addition to his ACC Freshman Awards and being named first-team All-ACC, Toney earned second-team All-ACC as an All-Purpose player.
Toney has also contributed to Miami with 13 punt returns for 187 yards. Opponents had to prepare for Toney as a receiver, runner, passer and returner in 2025. Not many players impact the game like Toney has for Miami during the 2025 season.

Ohio State running back Bo Jackson, WR Dakorien Moore, offensive linemen Michael Carroll of Alabama, Michael Fasusi of Oklahoma, Dontrell Glover of Georgia, defensive lineman Elijah Griffin of Georgia and defensive back Dijon Lee of Alabama, Brandon Finney of Oregon and Courtland Guillory of Oklahoma are the other Freshmen All-Americans in the CFP.
Toney should be the best true freshman on the field against Texas A&M. Toney had 25 receptions for 272 yards and two TDs, eight carries for 46 yards and two completions in three attempts for 24 yards and a TD in his past two games. The last two games of the season were the best production for Toney in 2025.
Miami will need Toney to continue performing at a high level to beat Texas A&M. The spotlight should not be too big for Toney in the CFP. Toney had six receptions for 82 yards in his first collegiate game as Miami beat Notre Dame 27-24 in the season opener.
