Quarterback Cam Ward and wide receiver Xavier Restrepo have a chance to set or tie Miami records with big games versus Florida State on Saturday. Restrepo is closing in on Miami career records for receiving yards and receptions and Ward will eventually set the single-season records for touchdown passes and passing yards.

Restrepo enters the game versus Florida State 12 receptions behind Mike Harley and 143 yards behind Santana Moss for career receiving yards. With his current pace, Restrepo would set the Miami single-season record for receiving yards after setting the reception record for one year.

Restrepo would have to tie the Miami single-game record set by Harley with 13 receptions versus Duke in 2020 to reach the career record for catches. The career highs for Restrepo are 12 receptions versus Georgia Tech and 193 receiving yards versus Lousiville in 2023.

Ward is 10th in Miami history with 24 passing touchdowns in a season. Steve Walsh holds the Miami single-season record with 29 passing TDs. The season high for Ward was five TD passes versus Ball State. Florida State has a decent pass defense allowing 198.0 yards per game and nine TDs this season.

Bernie Kosar holds the single-season record for Miami with 3,642 passing yards in 1984. Ward is averaging 362.6 passing yards this season. At his current pace, Ward would set the Miami single-season passing yardage record in the penultimate game of the regular season versus Wake Forest on November 23.

Ward is on pace to become the first QB in Miami history to have over 4,000 passing yards in a single season. With his performance this season Ward is projected to become the first Miami QB taken in the common NFL Draft first round since Vinny Testaverde in 1987. Kosar and Walsh were first-round NFL supplemental draft picks.
