After their elite performances leading Miami to a 53-31 win over Duke on Saturday, quarterback Cam Ward and wide receiver Xavier Restrepo both earned ACC Positional Players of the Week on Monday. Restrepo and Ward both had record-setting days for Miami in the win over Duke.
Ward completed 25 passes in 41 attempts for 400 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions. Ward became the only Miami QB to ever throw for five TDs twice in one game. In September Ward had five TD passes versus Ball State. Ward tied the Miami single-season record of 29 TD passes.
Restrepo had eight receptions for 146 yards and three TD receptions on Saturday versus Duke. The eight receptions allowed Restrepo to tie Mike Harley with 182 career catches at Miami and Restrepo passed Reggie Wayne and Santana Moss to become the Miami program leader with 2,573 receiving yards.
Restrepo also tied the Miami single-game record with the three TD receptions. Jacolby George was the most recent Miami player with three TD receptions in a game versus Texas A&M in 2023. Restrepo is now tied for seventh in Miami history with 19 TD receptions. Michael Irvin has the Miami record with 26 career TD receptions.
Ward earned his sixth ACC QB of the Week in 2024. Restrepo was named the ACC Receiver of the Week for the first time during the 2024 season. Ward leads the ACC in passing yards, passing yards per game, passer rating and TDs and remains the national leader in passing TDs.
Restrepo has 51 receptions for 856 yards and nine TDs. Restrepo leads the ACC in receiving yards per game, TD receptions and receiving yards and is second in receptions. Saturday should be another record-setting day for Restrepo and Ward at Georgia Tech with a noon kickoff on ESPN.
