Former Miami Hurricanes star quarterback Cam Ward has faced growing scrutiny during his rookie training camp with the Tennessee Titans. A recent practice which saw Ward throw three interceptions made its rounds on social media, marking a notable stumble in his much‐anticipated NFL debut.

Ward, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, entered camp with high expectations after a standout collegiate career where he claimed the Manning Award, ACC Player of the Year honors, and consensus All‑American status. The Titans view him as the future franchise quarterback, and he projects to start immediately following Will Levis’s season‐ending shoulder surgery.

"“Overall, Ward had a tough day. He was late on deep passes even during routes on air. Several deep passes came up short, causing the receivers to wait for the ball. Ward stressed the importance of timing being key to his transition to the NFL. Tuesday was a case of the timing not being where it should be.”"

During his first full‐pads practice on Tuesday, Ward threw three interceptions. One costlier pick came on an RPO that deflected off defensive lineman T’Vondre Sweat’s helmet into cornerback Gabe Jeudy‑Lally’s hands. Two additional interceptions occurred in the team’s final period. Statistically, Ward completed only 5 of 9 passes in 7‑on‑7 drills and 6 of 17 in full team periods. His deep throws routinely fell short, disrupting timing and forcing receivers to slow down or break stride, a clear sign his NFL adjustment process is ongoing.

Despite a rough outing, Ward’s work ethic remains widely praised and one rough practice will never define a young QB. His recent performance in pads may be a reality check, but his drive and leadership shine through. If he can harness his talent, Ward will become the player the Titans hoped for when drafting him at No. 1.
