Former Miami quarterback Cam Ward had a ridiculous scramble where he threw across his body for a nine-yard touchdown pass to fellow rookie Elic Ayomanor. The touchdown tied the game at 10 in the second quarter in a 33-19 Tennessee loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
Ward initially scrambled to his left, avoiding a Rams' defensive lineman, scrambled nearly completely to the right sideline and threw about two-thirds across the field to Ayomanor for a TD. The TD pass was completely reminiscent of throws Ward frequently made with Miami.
Ward was 30.4 horizontal yards away from Ayomanor on the TD pass. That is the longest horizontal distance on a TD pass since NFL Next Gen Stats was created in 2016. For Miami Hurricanes fans, it was just Ward doing Ward things.
The TD pass was the first for Ward in his NFL career. Tennessee finished with the sole TD and four Joey Slye field goals in the home loss. Ward completed 19 passes in 33 attempts for 175 yards with the one TD and no interceptions. Ayomanor had four receptions for 56 yards.

Ward had 12 completions in 28 attempts for 112 yards, no touchdowns or interceptions, as Tennessee lost 20-12 at Denver in its season opener. Tennessee and Ward have struggled offensively with a mostly young receiving corps. Veteran Tony Pollard had 20 carries for 92 yards for Tennessee.
Calvin Ridley led Tennessee with 57 receiving yards on five catches. Ayomanor, Chig Okonkwo and Ridley tied for the Tennessee team lead with six targets on Sunday. Expect the Tennessee receiving corps to evolve over the next few seasons as they continue their rebuild around Ward.
Tennessee hosts the Indianapolis Colts next at noon next Sunday on CBS. Indianapolis is hosting Denver in the late window on Sunday. Ward will match up with former New York Giants QB Daniel Jones, who now starts for Indianapolis.
