Jim Larranaga has a coaching tree. The coaches, though, are at other programs, but they have losing records. 247sports.com looked early at these coaches to analyze their coaching situations. Other than Eric Kangol, no other coach has had great success at their schools. Specifically, candidates for the Hurricanes job should have good experience with NIL.

Larranaga's coaching tree has four branches. Chris Caputo is a coach at George Washington University (15-8 overall, 2-5 on road.) Konkol is the head coach at Louisiana Tech (16-6 overall, 2-5 on the road.) Adam Fisher and Michael Huger are head coach and assistant coach at Temple (14-8 overall, 2-5 on the road.)

Before Larranaga was hired, other coaching candidates considered were Anthony Grant, Donnie Jones, and Mike Jarvis. Coach Larranaga was very good at George Mason. He said as per the Florida Times-Union that he wanted to coach in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Now, a new coach must not only be very good at coaching basketball, he must be able to multi-task.

Coaches with NIL experience

CBS Sports writers Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander conducted their "Candid Coaches series." They asked over 100 coaches about college programs that are "making the biggest waves with their Name, Image and Likeness situations."

The top five schools listed were Arkansas, Kansas, BYU, Kentucky and Indiana. At all of those schools, there will be an assistant coach groomed to take over the head job. There will also be coaches that are NIL directors and would love to grow their own program.

Mike Woodson is set to step down at the end of the season. He has capable coaches like Kenya Hunter, Brian Walsh and Yasir Rosemond. Indiana University also developed the first of its kind, an NIL directory for its athletes. All that information would be very useful to the next coach for the men's basketball team.
