Appearing at ACC Kickoff on Tuesday, quarterback Carson Beck stated the biggest reason he transferred to Miami was the offensive fit. Beck told ACC media transferring to Miami is one of the better decisions he has made for his future.

Beck left Georgia after five seasons that included a 24-3 record as a starter. Miami provides Beck with a fresh start. Beck struggled with interceptions in the middle of the 2024 season. Led by Beck, the passing game will look completely different for Miami in 2025.

Beck will throw to an almost entirely new Miami receiving corps in 2025. Miami lost its top six 2024 receivers. Transfers C.J. Daniels, Keelan Marion and Tony Johnson and returning sophomore JoJo Trader are expected to be the primary receivers for Miami in 2025.

Offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson has shown the ability to adapt to his personnel. Beck is a more traditional pro-style QB than Cam Ward. Miami was first nationally in 2024, averaging 43.2 points per game and 537.2 total yards per game. Beck and Miami are a perfect fit.

"Yeah, I think the biggest thing for me, obviously, was the offensive fit. As a quarterback, the OC, the scheme, the talent and guys that you're going to have around you is huge to the success and ultimately the future, A, of a quarterback, but of me."

Dawson will be the third offensive coordinator Beck will play under in college. Todd Monken was the Georgia OC from 2020 through 2022. Mike Bobo succeeded Monken as the Georgia OC in 2023 and remains in the position. Miami is opening the season with a new starting QB for the third consecutive season.

Tyler Van Dyke started for Miami in the 2023 season opener, followed by Ward and now Beck. Jacurri Brown and Emory Williams have started for Miami with Dawson as the OC. Williams will be the primary backup to Beck in 2025.

Williams completed five passes in 14 attempts for 26 yards with an interception in the Pop-Tarts Bowl loss to Iowa State. Beck provides Miami with an experienced QB who is an offensive fit for Miami as much as the Hurricanes are for him. Miami has a much higher upside with Beck on the roster.
