Carson Beck was 26th in the "Reranking every Power 4 quarterback after two months of the 2025 season," posted by ESPN last week. The ranking for Beck reflects a tumultuous season with Miami sitting on the precipice of a College Football Playoff berth.

Beck has thrown 16 touchdowns and five interceptions in Miami's wins and two with six picks in the two Hurricanes losses. After week 12, Beck is second nationally, completing 73.2 percent of his pass attempts. Julian Sayin of Ohio State leads the nation with an 80.2 completion percentage.

Interceptions against South Florida and Florida were the only games Beck threw picks in consecutive games in 2025. Beck had a four-game stretch with nine interceptions thrown during the 2024 season with Georgia. That included three interceptions in a 34-20 Georgia win over Florida.

Beck filled a huge void for Miami at QB after Cam Ward was the first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. Transferring to Miami was supposed to be a chance for Beck to have a redemptive season and rehabilitate his NFL Draft prospects.

"26. Carson Beck, Miami
Last Rank: 18 | Total QBR: 78.5 | Pass Yds: 2,485 | Rush Yds (no sack): 92 | Total TDs: 19

I've always appreciated Beck's willingness to make mistakes. He makes tough throws and completes a lot of them (he's behind only Sayin with his 73% completion rate), but the downside, of course, is the interceptions: He has thrown six in two Miami losses (and only three in seven wins). The Hurricanes still have solid odds of reaching 10-2 and, potentially, the CFP, though."
Bill Connelly, ESPN

Playing under Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson was expected to be a better fit for Beck than the system he played in with Georgia. Questionable decision-making and his status as more of a pro-style QB were criticisms of Beck.

Beck has played to those concerns with Miami. Interceptions with Miami in position for at least a game-tying field goal attempt at the end of regulation and a pick in an overtime defeat at SMU were costly for Miami in those games and could potentially keep the Hurricanes from earning a CFP berth.

After the overtime interception at SMU, Beck has thrown 51 consecutive passes in the last two games without throwing a pick. How Beck plays in the next two weeks, plus a potential Miami postseason game, is critical for Beck moving up the Power Four QB rankings and his potential 2026 NFL Draft slot.

Beck is currently projected as the 99th overall pick in 2026 by the NFL Mock Draft Database. That would place Beck late in the third round. How Beck performs in the remaining games for Miami will likely have an impact if he is a day two or three selection in the 2026 NFL Draft.
