After nearly eight months off the field following elbow surgery, Carson Beck finally made his full debut on the Greentree practice fields with his new Miami Hurricanes teammates and the excitement was obvious. As he re-entered live drills Thursday morning, the quarterback couldn’t hide his grin.

“My arm felt absolutely juiced,” he shared, describing the first 20 passes as if the ball were “humming out” of his hand. As the session evolved, he settled in and clearly elevated the offense in later periods

Beck’s return comes after a long rehab that kept him sidelined from team workouts all spring. Head coach Mario Cristobal praised the progress, saying, “Really productive… his first rep or two might have been off by a little bit, and then by the middle of practice, really, really impressive.” Cristobal noted that his first full session looked promising for both him and the Hurricanes’ entire quarterback room.

This milestone comes after a 3,485-yard, 28-touchdown season at Georgia, which ended with a mid-season elbow injury during the SEC Championship Game. His rehabilitation has been methodical, but today’s first full practice gives strong signs that he has returned to full strength as he begins his career in Coral Gables.

Miami’s veteran players also had high praise. Defensive lineman Rueben Bain Jr. emphasized unity and consistency, saying, “We’ve just got to be consistent from the first game to the last whistle of the season. Just be the same person, same player, every day.” Miami’s defensive leaders see Beck’s energy and arm strength as one piece of broader team momentum heading into preseason camp.

Fans can circle August 31 on the calendar, when Miami opens the season hosting Notre Dame at Hard Rock Stadium. Matchups against Florida (Sept. 20) and Florida State (Oct. 4) come soon after. For now, Beck’s return to form and the offense’s early cohesion build optimism for what lies ahead.
