Don't talk to Carson Beck about Miami's rankings or rankings in general.
The fifth-year senior has heard it all, and he's been through it all. He was a backup on two championship teams at Georgia and had a couple of near misses in his two years starting for the Bulldogs. Now he brings that experience and knowledge to the Miami Hurricanes as they navigate through the second half of the season with the No. 2 ranking in the AP Top 25.
Beck's advice is simple: Ignore it.
'It Means Literally Nothing': Miami's Carson Beck Not Fazed By Ranking or Outside Noise https://t.co/P5epX02CfM

"I've been on championship teams, and I've been on teams that have been top five, number one in the country. It means literally nothing," Beck said. "Not even speaking about the past, but speaking about right now.... These same people that are telling you that you're the best were telling you that we were going to go 8–4, before the season."
Miami has no time for the noise
Starting with tomorrow's game against Louisville, the countdown begins. Every week Miami is going to be favored, and most weeks the Hurricanes will also be on upset alert. That's just how it works. After spending the first half of the season building Miami up as one of the top teams in the country, they will now wait to see if Miami will fall victim to an upset.
Beck knows the deal and knows that listening to the outside noise is a distraction the Hurricanes don't need.
"You're going to listen to them now [because] they're saying that you're good even though they were telling you that you [stunk] before we played Notre Dame? You have to keep playing ball and do what got you here. This season is long and [we] play a tough, physical style of ball. That can be difficult to continue and not be complacent."Hurricanes QB Carson Beck
Beck knows that from here on, the Hurricanes are going to get everyone's best shot. Every opponent is going to look at Miami as their big bowl game and a chance to make noise nationally by knocking off one of the top teams. Beck is making it his responsibility to make sure that doesn't happen.
