Reports from Alex Donno of Locked On Canes, who is also the Miami football postgame show host, and Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U stated quarterback Carson Beck has been seen publicly without a brace or sling recently following UCL surgery on his elbow.
Beck injured his Ulnar Collateral Ligament, which is "the inner side of the elbow joint, connecting the humerus (upper arm bone) to the ulna (forearm bone)" in the SEC Championship Game vs. Texas. When Beck can begin throwing again varies depending on the report. Most expect Beck will be ready no later than August training camp.
Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reported Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal said "things are ahead of schedule in regard to Carson Beck's elbow surgery recovery." There was no definitive timeline for when Beck will be ready to resume throwing. Expect Miami to be cautious in Beck's rehabilitation.
Beck was shown recently at a Miami basketball game in social media posts by Donno and Urrutia. Expect to see Beck frequently at Miami women's basketball games. Beck is dating Miami guard Hanna Cavinder. It seems unlikely that Beck will participate in spring practice.
The photograph of Beck without the brace or sling came after he was previously pictured wearing one. Although he is expected to not participate physically in spring practice, Beck will take the time to work with offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson on learning the offense and building chemistry with his teammates.
One key player for Beck to build chemistry with is LSU transfer WR C.J. Daniels. Daniels is expected to be Miami's WR1 after the Hurricanes lost the top four players at that position and their first-team tight end following the 2024 season. Rebuilding the receiving corps is critical for Beck to have success in 2025.
Miami is expected to add another WR during the spring transfer portal window in April. Hopefully, Beck will be ready to resume throwing when WRs visit in April. Miami faces a transformative offseason with significant additions to the roster led by Beck.
