Carson Beck had another efficient performance as Miami beat Bethune-Cookman 45-10 to win its 10th consecutive regular season non-conference game on Saturday night. Beck completed 22 passes in 24 attempts for 267 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Beck continued to have great chemistry with C.J. Daniels, who had five receptions for 73 yards and two TDs and Malachi Toney, who had six catches for 80 yards. Miami dominated throughout with 14 points in the first and second quarters to take a 28-20 lead at halftime.
Miami outgained Notre Dame 543 to 191. Emory Williams relieved Beck and completed eight passes in 12 attempts for 77 yards. Four Miami running backs and Williams ran 30 times for 199 yards and four TDs. Mark Fletcher Jr. led Miami with 11 carries for 86 yards and two TDs.
Miami was able to play nearly its entire roster versus Bethune-Cookman. True freshman linebacker Kellen Wiley Jr. led Miami with five tackles. Transfer defensive back Keointe Scott had three tackles and led Miami with three tackles for loss.
Miami got on the board with a 40-yard TD pass from Beck to Daniels. Fletcher reached the end zone both times in the first half and North Dakota State transfer CharMar Brown scored a TD and had seven carries for 35 yards and a TD on Saturday.
Redshirt freshman RB Chris Wheatley-Humphrey had seven carries for 33 yards and true freshman Girard Pringle Jr. had two carries for 36 yards including a 30-yard TD run. Fourteen Miami receivers had catches versus Bethune-Cookman.
Twenty-six defensive players earned snaps for Miami on Saturday night. Miami finished with 10 TFLs and one sack. True freshman defensive back Bryce Fitzgerald had the first interception of his career and the only one for Miami on Saturday. Safety Isaiah Taylor also added two TFLs on Saturday.
Miami hosts South Florida next Saturday. South Florida won at Florida in the biggest upset of the season on Saturday as an 18.5 point underdog. Expect South Florida to be ranked when they play at Miami on Saturday.
