Carson Beck was one of five players included by Will Backus of CBS Sports as "ACC transfers destined for instant impact: Miami, North Carolina additions poised for big 2025 seasons." Backus mentions in his summary of Beck that he is stepping into big shoes, replacing Cam Ward at QB for Miami.

Beck is a more traditional QB that will not make nearly as many plays outside of the pocket as Ward did. Beck led Georgia to a 24-3 record as a starting QB. The 2024 season was inconsistent for Beck. All 12 interceptions Beck threw in 2024 occurred in games four through nine.

Beck will work with an entirely new Miami wide receiver corps in 2025. Miami lost its top six receivers from 2024. Offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson helped Ward become a record-setting QB for Miami in 2024. Beck has an opportunity to re-develop into a projected NFL Draft first-round pick with a strong 2025 season.

Miami added BYU transfer Keelan Marion, Tony Johnson from Cincinnati and C.J. Daniels from LSU to provide experience to the Miami WR corps in 2025. Daniels, Johnson and Marion are expected to be the top four WRs for Miami, with sophomore Joshisa Trader.

"Beck has plenty to prove. After an impressive debut as Georgia's starter in 2023, he saw a statistical drop in almost every major passing category last season while tying for the SEC's lead in interceptions with 12. Some of Beck's struggles can be attributed to Georgia's lackluster wide receiver play, but he'll have to be better if the Hurricanes want to finally break into the College Football Playoff. Miami (+430) currently holds the second-best odds to win the ACC, according to FanDuel Sportsbook."

Beck and Miami will be challenged opening weekend, hosting Notre Dame on August 30. Miami will also be challenged versus Florida on September 20. Ward opened the season with a statement performance versus Florida in 2024 as Miami won 41-17 in Gainesville.

Clemson leads the ACC at +125 to win the conference in the FanDuel Sportsbook. Miami is not scheduled to play Clemson in 2025. The Hurricanes are +205 to make the College Football Playoff and -260 to not earn a berth. Leading Miami to the College Football Playoff would make Beck a Hurricanes' legend.

Miami has a schedule set up for Beck to succeed. For the first four games of the 2025 season, Miami is at home. Miami does not leave Florida until a November 1 game at SMU. The final two games of the season Miami is at Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh. Blacksburg and Pittsburgh have been difficult places for Miami in the past.
