Brad Crawford of 247Sports ranked Carson Beck fifth in his "Projecting college football's top 10 quarterbacks for 2025 season." Beck transferred to Miami earlier this month after two seasons as the Georgia starting QB. Beck significantly upgrades the projections for Miami in 2025.
Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson significantly helped Cam Ward improve his 2025 NFL Draft stock during his one season with Miami in 2024. Beck will hope Dawson can help him improve his 2026 NFL Draft stock during the 2025 season with Miami. Beck had an inconsistent 2024 season with Georgia.
During the first three games of the 2024 season, Becker threw for seven touchdowns and no interceptions. Beck helped lead Georgia out of a 28-0 first half deficit by throwing for 439 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions in a 41-34 loss at Alabama in September.
At Auburn a week later, Beck threw for 240 yards and two TDs. In the four games after Auburn, Beck had two games under 200 yards passing while throwing for five TDs and nine interceptions. Beck finished the 2024 season with 11 TD and no interceptions in the final four games before suffering a season-ending UCL injury in the SEC Championship Game.

There might not be a player in college football with more to prove next season than Carson Beck, who left Georgia for Miami this cycle instead of entering the 2025 NFL Draft...Cam Ward made the same move this time last year and it resulted in Heisman finalist honors with the Hurricanes...Beck was no longer the right fit in the Bulldogs' pro-style scheme and his confidence was rattled in 2024 as a result. At Miami, he'll have a chance to be one of the ACC's top passers."
Leaving Georgia, who has been the best program nationally in this decade, for Miami who is just starting to ascend under Mario Cristobal. As Crawford stated, Beck will have a lot to prove in 2025. Beck should have a better defense to help Miami win in 2025.
The inconsistent defense ultimately cost Miami a chance to make the College Football Playoff. Ward was often asked to carry Miami. Expect Miami to have a more balanced team in 2025. Beck has played in numerous big games with Georgia and his leadership should help Miami in 2025.
If Beck reaches the projections by Crawford, he should be a Heisman Trophy Finalist in 2026. The 3,788 yards and 31 TDs projected for Beck in 2025 by Crawford would be second for a single season in Miami program history to Ward. Beck and Ward are different QBs.

Beck is not as mobile as Ward and doesn't produce as many big plays. Ward tied for first nationally in 2024 with Mississippi QB producing 74 completions of 20 or more yards. Beck finished 10th with 54 completions of 20 or more yards. Miami was third nationally in passing yards per game in 2024 and Georgia was 12th.
Beck is tied for 10th with Florida QB D.J. Lagway at plus 2,000 in the 2025 Heisman Trophy odds listed by FanDuel. Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith who is fourth at plus 1,200 is the only non-QB with better odds than Beck. Beck has a great opportunity for big things with Miami in 2025.
