The Miami offense is off to another slow start, and iit's starting to eat at Carson Beck.

Beck, a fifth-year senior, was visibly upset after another Hurricanes drive stalled early. He threw an interception in the first quarter against Syracuse — his seventh over the past four games—and is showing terrible body language each time he comes off the field.

"This is something that he's going to have to make sure that he puts on himself. He's the leader. He's the quarterback. He's going to have to lead the charge," ESPN commentator Louis Riddick said.

Beck remained animated on the sidelines and generally looked like he didn't want to be there. He's been under fire over the past several weeks for his turnovers and the Hurricanes' inability to find more success on offense. He's also had questionable responses to questions during media sessions that have given the impression he is blaming teammates and coaches for the lack of production.

Riddick continued his comments on Beck by saying that the quarterback needs to be the one that turns it around.

"This is not the look that you want. You cannot be showing signs of being exasperated early on in this football game [when] you've only played one quarter," Riddick said. "You're the leader. You're the guy that was brought in here to follow a guy like Cam Ward, who was the number one overall pick in the draft. This is your football team, your offense, you have got to set the tone."

Miami fans are questioning Beck's commitment

Hurricane fans have been frustrated with Beck as well. In what looked like Miami's best season in over two decades, it appears to be on the verge of unraveling. Miami is ranked 18th in the college football playoffs and must win out to have a chance at making the 12-team bracket.

Beck recovers to catch a touchdown

Miami got on the board late in the first half when Malachi Toney completed a throwback screen to Beck, who followed a convoy of blockers into the end zone. It was the bright spot in an otherwise lackluster first half from the Hurricanes offense.

Despite the struggles, Miami leads 14-0 at the half with Keionte Scott adding a 38-yard pick six with less than two minutes remaining in the second quarter.
