Carson Beck's brutal start to CFP title game is what Miami fans don't want to see

Going into the season, everybody was worried about how good Carson Beck would perform in big games. But, in the playoffs, he's been reliable. Beck has started the national championship 3-for-7 for 16 yards.

Against Texas A&M, the Hurricanes didn't ask him to do much. In the first round against Texas A&M, he played it conservative and efficient in a 10-3 win, finishing 14-of-20 for 103 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions.

In the upset against Ohio State, Beck once again stepped up to the plate and was a serviceable game manager. Beck went 19-of-26 for 138 yards and a TD in a 24-14 upset, with no picks. 

In the matchup against Ole Miss, Beck had his best playoff game. Miami won 31-27 with Beck going 23-of-37 for 268 yards, two passing touchdowns and one interception. He also scored on the ground.

Beck's early Georgia years were backup work: 310 yards with four TDs and no picks in 2022, and 176 yards with two TDs and two interceptions in 2021.

In 2023, his first year as Georgia's full-time starter, Beck completed 302 of 417 passes (72.4%) for 3,941 yards with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions in 14 games. In 2024, still at Georgia, his efficiency dipped while his workload stayed heavy: 290-of-448 passing (64.7%) for 3,485 yards, 28 TDs and 12 picks across 13 games.

He then transferred and put up another big season at Miami in 2025, completing 319 of 435 throws (73.3%) for 3,581 yards with 29 TDs and 11 interceptions in 15 games.

In 2023, Beck was sharp vs. ranked teams: 97-of-134 passing (72.4%) for 1,304 yards with nine TDs and one interception. In 2024, the ranked-opponent performances were a lot worse: 125-of-208 (60.1%) for 1,481 yards with seven TDs and seven interceptions. In 2025 at Miami: 76-of-113 (67.3%) for 714 yards with six TDs and one pick vs. ranked teams.
