Chip Patterson of CBS Sports asked, "Burning questions for 2025 ACC Kickoff: UNC's QB situation under Bill Belichick, Carson Beck's health in focus." The question Patterson has for Miami is, Where is Carson Beck in his return to health and form?"

Beck had surgery to repair his ulnar collateral ligament in December. Patterson posed the question of how ready will Beck be when Miami hosts Notre Dame in the season opener on August 31 at Hard Rock Stadium. The anticipation is that Beck will be completely healthy and ready for the season opener.

Notre Dame at Miami is one of the marquee games in the opening weekend of the season. Virginia Tech at South Carolina is the only other game on August 31, the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Notre Dame will be a huge inaugural test for Beck playing in the Miami offense under coordinator Shannon Dawson.

Beck provides Miami with a classic pro-style quarterback. Other than his health, the biggest question for Beck entering the 2025 season will be if he can cut down on interceptions. Beck threw 12 interceptions in 2024, but nine of them came during a four-game span in the middle of the season.

"Miami is very good...at the lines of scrimmage, which should be good news for Carson Beck given his ability to operate at a high level when he's got solid protection from the offensive line. The question is Beck's health and how ready he is -- or will be -- for a highly anticipated season opener against Notre Dame in Hard Rock Stadium. Beck is the X-factor that determines Miami's ceiling, and he'll get to tell the media himself just how close he is to being back to full strength. "

Miami returns four of their top six offensive linemen from 2024 and edge rushers Rueben Bain and Akheem Mesidor. Right tackle Francis Mauigoa returns for his third season as a starter and he and Bain project as first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Max Chadwick of Pro Football Focus stated in June, "Beck still performed at a solid level (80.2 PFF passing grade in 2024). His 90.9 PFF overall grade since 2023 is the second-best mark of any returning FBS quarterback."

Beck is arguably the most accomplished active QB in college football with a 24-3 career record as a starter. Entering the 2025 season, Beck is generally regarded as the second or third best QB in the ACC behind Cade Klubnick of Clemson.

Bain, linebacker Wesley Bissainthe, Beck and Mesidor will appear at ACC Kickoff on Tuesday. Miami will appear in front of reporters at 11:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time on the ACC Network, with the live stream available here.
