Hunter Yurachek didn't slam the door on Miami's College Football Playoff hopes Tuesday night. If anything, the CFP selection committee chair cracked it open a little wider, and Rece Davis made sure everyone at home heard it.

So you're telling me there's a chance?
After the penultimate CFP Top 25 dropped, Davis pressed Yurachek on ESPN about why Miami sits at No. 12, two spots behind Notre Dame, despite both being 10-2 and the Hurricanes owning the head-to-head win. He also asked for clarification on if that decision was final, considering neither team is playing on championship weekend.
Yurachek then repeated that idle teams are not locked in place, saying "yes, teams that are idle can move up or down" and hinting that factors like strength of schedule will still be weighed after championship weekend.

Miami Hurricanes ranked No. 12 in Week 15 CFP rankings
Davis then followed up with the question every Miami fan was screaming at the TV: "So we're not set with Miami definitively being behind Notre Dame no matter what. Is that fair to say?" Yurachek didn't give him a clean yes, but he got close. "Rece, following the championship games, we will re-rank the top 25 teams, and we'll see where they fall," he answered.
For Miami, that's the lifeline. The Hurricanes still need help in the form of a loss or two from the teams directly in front of them, and a clean-enough title weekend that doesn't flood the field with surprise champions. But Yurachek's on-air answer makes one thing clear: the committee hasn't locked them into 12th and thrown away the key.
Even while sitting at home on championship Saturday, the Canes are still in the conversation, and the man running the room just said the board is going to be wiped clean and re-ranked one more time.
