There was no immediate diagnosis from the Hurricanes, and the extent of the injury will not be known until Miami's medical staff can evaluate Brown further. He has rushed the ball 13 times for 97 yards and one touchdown this season.
No. 5 Miami ended up scoring on that drive and currently leads 24-7 at halftime. Darian Mensah is still perfect through the air, going at 20 of 20 for 193 yards and two touchdowns.
Joshua Moore (two catches for 15 yards) and tight end Elija Lofton (two catches for 34 yards) each scored TDs, Malachi Toney has 10 catches for 111 yards, and Mark Fletcher Jr. (13 rushes for 68 yards) also scored a touchdown.
Brown transferred from North Dakota State after a 2024 season in which he rushed for 1,181 yards and 15 touchdowns, won the Jerry Rice Award as the top freshman in the FCS, and helped the Bison win a national championship.
In his first season at Miami last year he played 15 games, ran for 474 yards and seven touchdowns, and added 20 catches for 138 yards and two more scores.
If Brown is lost for any stretch, Miami still has bodies. Fletcher is the lead back for the Canes, freshman Javian Mallory rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns (142-yard night against Florida A&M), Girard Pringle (two rushes for six yards, one catch for 10 yards tonight) is a quality option, and Jordan Lyle seems to be getting closer to seeing the field after some off-the-field trouble.
