Coppin State at Miami basketball: How to watch and series history

Miami hopes to improve to 3-0 when they conclude a three-game home stand to open the season on Sunday versus Coppin State.

Miami will conclude a three game home stand to begin the season when they host Coppin State on Sunday afternoon at the Watsco Center. Miami has wins over Farleigh Dickinson and Binghamton to begin the season. Coppin State travels to Coral Gables with a 0-5 record to start the 2024-25 season.

Five Miami players are averaging in double figures and another two score at least 8.5 points per game. Derrius Ward at 12.4 PPG is the only Coppin State player averaging in double figures. Through the first 12 days of the season, Miami is seventh nationally averaging 100.5 PPG.

Coppin State is 349th nationally getting outscored by 23 PPG. Miami is 12th nationally in scoring margin at 32 PPG. Coppin State is bad nearly across the board. The Eagles are bad pretty much across the board. Coppin State is ranked below 300th in most categories.

Miami is ranked in the top 10 nationally in several offensive categories. Nijel Pack leads Miami averaging 19.0 points per game, 2.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists. Jalen Blackmon is shooting the ball exceptionally well averaging 16.0 PPG and making 60 percent of his-three point shots.

Lynn Kidd should have a big advantage at center. Kidd is averaging 15.0 PPG, 6.5 RPG and shooting a rediculous 86.7 percent from the floor. The tallest player for Coppin State is 6'8. Coppin State will not be able to match Kidd's size on the interior for Miami.

Miami beat Coppin State all three times they have played with an average margin of 26.67 PPG. Miami won 91-60 in 2019 in the last meeting between Miami and Coppin State.

Miami will have its test this season when it opens play in the Charleston Classic versus Drake at noon on Thursday. Florida Atlantic or Oklahoma State is the second game for Miami in Charleston. Seton Hall against Virginia Commonwealth and Nevada versus Vanderbilt are games in the bottom half of the Charleston Bracket.
