Dante Moore showed Carson Beck exactly what not to do against Indiana

Mistakes will be a killer against the Hoosiers

On the surface, Dante Moore's numbers looked fine. The redshirt sophomore was 24-of-39 for 285 yards with two touchdowns. But beyond the surface, you'll see that Moore left an example for Carson Beck of what not to do against the Indiana Hoosiers.

It's going to be on Beck to not make mistakes in next Monday night's CFP Championship Game in Hard Rock Stadium. Indiana is the type of team that feasts on mistakes and turns them into quick points. With the Hoosiers' offense as efficient as any in the nation, they don't need help.

Moore's interception and two lost fumbles led to 21 easy points for the Hoosiers in a decisive 56-22 victory in the Peach Bowl. Despite Moore's great talent and ability to run an explosive offense, he couldn't play from behind and the more Oregon trailed on the scoreboard, the great opportunity Indiana had to send an exotic blitz or adjust a coverage based on a tendency, so it could capitalize.

So far, Beck has provided the perfect balance

Because Miami has such a great running game, which can help the Hurricanes control the clock and the game flow, Beck doesn't have to do everything. The sixth-year senior has the experience to make the right plays at the right time, and he's also smart enough to know when he simply needs to be a game manager.

Beck has balanced both tasks exceptionally well thus far through the playoffs. Through three games, Beck is only averaging 169.6 yards per game, but he's also only thrown one interception and that was on a tipped pass against Ole Miss in the Fiesta Bowl.

If there's one area where Beck has to be careful, it's with the sacks. He's taken eight sacks in three games and four on Thursday against the Rebels. Sacks are drive killers, especially when Miami is likely to install another game plan based around ball control. Beck has to keep the offense out of second & third-and-long situations that will leave him vulnerable.

Beck has been everything the Hurricanes needed him to be this postseason. He's playing within himself and managing to be the difference maker when the opportunity calls like it did on the game-winning touchdown run against Ole Miss. If Beck can continue this play for one more game, he and his Miami teammates will be champions.
