Miami's sales pitch to quarterbacks is one of the best in the nation and Darian Mensah made that clear at ACC Kickoff in Charlotte.

The new Hurricanes quarterback said the recent success of Cam Ward and Carson Beck played a major role in his decision to leave Duke for Miami. That is the clearest proof yet that the program's transfer quarterback plan is selling itself.

Cam Ward and Carson Beck's success at Miami helped bring in Darian Mensah

Mensah was asked about Ward and Beck during his media day session and he called their success a "huge factor" in his transfer decision and said Dawson's willingness to shape the offense around the quarterback made Miami a place he wanted to be.

That is long way from where Miami was three years ago. The Hurricanes had to sell quarterbacks on what they believed the offense could become, but now they can point to a recent Heisman-level season from Ward, a national championship game run with Beck and a system that has helped two high-profile transfers improve their NFL draft stock.

Ward was selected No. 1 overall and Beck revived his draft stock to become a 3rd round selection

Ward transferred from Washington State to Miami before the 2024 season and became the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He led the FBS with 39 touchdown passes and powered the nation's top offense in 2024.

Beck followed from Georgia after an elbow injury and threw for 3,813 yards and 30 touchdowns while helping Miami reach its first College Football Playoff and the national championship game. He ended up going to the Arizona Cardinals in the third round.

Mensah is now the next quarterback betting that the Miami path can take him to where he wants to go.

Mensah just led Duke to an ACC championship and projects to have NFL options to consider at the end of this year. Mensah threw for 3,973 yards and 34 touchdowns while completing 66.8% of his passes in 2025.

Mensah also said he wanted to compete for a national title and believed Miami was the right place for his personal goals.
