Houston defensive back Keionte Scott has entered the NCAA transfer portal, adding another experienced name to the spring cycle for Miami to target. Scott benefits from the new NCAA rule that allows former JUCO players to get an extra season of eligibility.

Scott, who transferred to Houston earlier this year from Auburn, played in 33 career games for the Tigers. During his time at Auburn, he totaled 115 tackles, six tackles for loss, and scored a punt return touchdown. Scott initially played under current Miami defensive backs coach Zac Etheridge during his Auburn career, a connection that could play a major role in his next destination.

The Miami Hurricanes have been aggressive in the portal under head coach Mario Cristobal, and Scott’s previous relationship with Etheridge could give Miami an inside track in his recruitment.

The 6-foot, 192-pound defensive back showcased versatility during his three years at Auburn. Scott’s entry comes just after the NCAA's 48-hour extension window closed, finalizing the list of spring portal entrants.

Scott began his college career at Snow College in Utah before transferring to Auburn in 2022. He quickly became a key part of the Tigers’ defense, starting in his first season and earning praise across the board. In the 2021 season, Scott played in eight games for Snow College, recording 27 total tackles, including 2.5 tackles.

When leaving Snow College, Scott was the No. 1 JUCO cornerback in the nation and Miami made it into his top 5 schools list along with BYU, Auburn, Oregon and Tennessee. Reportedly his final two were BYU and Auburn, with Scott opting to go play for Auburn.

Miami has already been linked to multiple DB transfer targets, including Houston safety A.J. Haulcy. It is unlikely that Miami lands both of them but they are certainly in play for either of the DB's.
