Eight Miami players earn Top PFF National and All-ACC Week-12 Honors

One Miami player earned National Defensive Player of the Week, two were named to the national team of the week and five earned All-ACC from Pro Football Focus for their week 12 performances.

Safety Jakobe Thomas was named the National Defensive Player of the Week and Coverage Defender of the Week, Akheem Mesidor was named to the National Team of the Week and Carson Beck, Keelan Marion and Francis Mauigoa were also named to the week 12 All-ACC team by Pro Football Focus.

Thomas was the highest graded Miami player by PFF for his performance in the 41-7 win over North Carolina State on Saturday, per David Lake of Inside the U. Thomas had three tackles, two interceptions, with one returned for a touchdown and one pass breakup with a 9.0 overall grade against the Wolfpack.

Thomas was targeted four times, allowing one reception for seven yards, did not miss a tackle and had a 96.2 coverage grade and 80.4 tackling grade versus NC State per Lake. With top defensive back Keionte Scott out, Thomas had his best game as a Hurricane.

Mesidor had a 90.3 overall PFF grade, 88.4 pass rushing grade and 71.3 run defense grade via Lake. Mesidor led Miami with five tackles, two tackles for loss and had the Hurricanes' only sack without a missed tackle.

Marion was third on Miami behind Mesidor and Thomas with a 90.1 PFF grade. Marion had seven receptions on seven targets for 96 yards with 38 after the catch. PFF via Lake recorded Marion catching passes in the deep, intermediate and short parts of the field. Marion had three receptions for 18 or more yards.

Beck completed 21 passes in 27 attempts for 295 yards with three TDs. Per Lake, Beck completed four of his six deep pass attempts for 120 yards and one TD and averaged 2.65 seconds per attempt with a depth of target of 9.1 yards. PFF recorded Beck with two big-time throws and two turnover-worthy plays per Lake.

Mauigoa received an 82.5 grade from PFF per Lake, the sixth-highest for Miami versus NC State, had a 76.6 pass blocking grade and an 81.0 run blocking grade, which led the Hurricanes. Per PFF via Lake Mauigoa allowed two pressures and no sacks versus NC State.
