ESPN college football analyst Louis Riddick praised Cam Ward but said Miami defensive coordinator Lance Guidry was out schemed by Georgia Tech offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner on Saturday. Georgia Tech rushed for 271 yards and threw for 99 in a 28-23 win over Miami.

Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King returned after missing the previous two games with a shoulder injury. King ran 20 times for 93 yards and a touchdown even though Guidry and the Miami defense knew he was extremely limited in his ability to throw the football.

King completed all six of his pass attempts for 32 yards, one TD and no interceptions. The longest completion for King was 11 yards. That was the only completion for King of over 10 yards. Freshman Aaron Philo completed five passes in 10 attempts for 67 yards and a TD.

Philo had 15, 16 and 27-yard completions even though Miami knew those were downs Georgia Tech had to throw. The 27-yard completion was on third and 18 and the 16-yard completion came on third and 18. Georgia Tech was nine for 14 on third down against a defense that was elite in the category entering the game.
