ESPN is sending Sean McDonough and Greg McElroy to College Station to call the Miami Hurricanes' first-round matchup at Texas A&M on Dec. 20.

Miami-Texas A&M CFP Matchup

McDonough and McElroy are headed back to a Miami game after working the Hurricanes' season-opening win over Notre Dame. The kickoff is set for noon Eastern at Kyle Field on ABC. Molly McGrath and Taylor McGregor are the sideline reporters.

In the lead-up to Selection Sunday, McElroy publicly backed the Hurricanes' playoff case, arguing that once Miami and Notre Dame landed in the same evaluation tier, the committee needed to honor its own head-to-head tiebreaker standard. Obviously, the CFP committee ended up agreeing with McElroy, and that has caused quite a stir in the college football world.

Texas A&M is the No. 7 seed after an 11-1 season and will host No. 10 Miami at Kyle Field, with both programs making their first College Football Playoff appearance. The Aggies are early favorites, and the game opens a Saturday tripleheader of first-round matchups.

Sean McDonough and Greg McElroy to call Texas A&M-Miami

McDonough and McElroy have been together on Miami games before:

  • 2025 vs Notre Dame in Miami Gardens — They were ESPN/ABC's No. 2 team on the Sunday night opener, with Molly McGrath and Taylor McGregor on the sidelines.
  • 2023 at Florida State — ABC's broadcast from Doak Campbell was McDonough, McElroy and McGrath.
  • 2023 vs Louisville in Miami Gardens — McDonough and McElroy were on the ABC call, again with McGrath on the sideline.

McDonough himself has a Miami history as he called the 2021 Alabama-Miami opener for ABC (with Todd Blackledge as his analyst), and the game between No. 8 Miami vs No. 25 LSU back in 2018. McElroy called a game in 2021 between No. 24 Miami and Michigan State with Joe Tessitore on the play-by-play.
