Former Alabama All-SEC running back Damien Harris said that the Crimson Tide is not a College Football Playoff team. Harris played for Alabama from 2015 through 2018 and won national titles in 2015 and 2017.
Alabama lost 28-7 to Georgia in the SEC Championship on Saturday. The Crimson Tide had 212 yards of total offense and -3 rushing. That was the sixth time during the 2025 season that Alabama was held under 100 yards rushing and the second consecutive game under 300 yards of total offense.
Alabama beat Auburn 27-20 in their final regular-season game after losing a 17-0 lead against the Tigers. Florida State beat Alabama 31-17 in the season opener. Oklahoma defeated Alabama 23-20 to give the Crimson Tide its other loss.
Alabama won 24-21 at Georgia on September 27. That is the best win this season in college football based on the final Associated Press Top 25 rankings. Alabama fell from 10th to 11th in the week 16 AP Top 25.

Alabama fell two spots to eighth in the ESPN Football Power Index. Miami remained seventh in the ESPN FPI. Alabama is 10th in strength of record, sixth in strength of schedule, 11th in game control and 23rd in average in-game win probablity.
Miami is 14th in strength of record, 45th in strength of schedule, sixth in game control and in average in-game win probability. The CFP committee stresses how teams look recently. Miami has won its last four games by an average margin of 28 points. Alabama has lost two of its last three games against Football Bowl Subdivision opponents.
