Miami should move up from sixth to third in the USA Today Coaches Poll when it is released on Sunday at 2 PM Eastern Daylight Time. Third ranked Penn State lost 30-24 to Oregon in double overtime, number four LSU was defeated 24-19 at Mississippi and fifth-ranked Georgia lost 24-21 to Alabama.

Ohio State, which won 24-6 at Washington, will stay number one in the Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today Coaches poll. Oregon should move up to number two after its win at Penn State and Miami would fall in third behind Oregon.

The move to third in the USA Today Coaches Poll would make the rankings more symmetrical for Miami. Miami was second in the AP Top 25 in week five. Oregon could potentially pass Miami in the AP Top 25 after a top-five road win. Miami will play its first road game on Saturday at Florida State.

Virginia defeating Florida State 46-38 in double overtime on Friday ended a potential top 10 game between the Hurricanes and Seminoles on Saturday. Miami has wins over number six Notre Dame and 18th ranked South Florida at the time the Hurricanes beat them this season.

Florida began the season 15th in the AP Top 25 and 17th in the USA Today Coaches poll, but plummeted out of the rankings after losing at home to South Florida. Florida followed up the loss to South Florida with defeats at LSU and Miami, with a bye this week.

Miami will be well rested for Florida State on Saturday and then has its second bye the weekend of October 11. A seven week stretch of consecutive games to end the regular season begins for Miami on October 17 against Louisville.

Louisville was 28th in the week five coaches' poll. The Cardinals are likely to be the only team remaining on the 2025 Miami schedule to receive votes in the top 25. Miami can take a de facto two-game lead over Florida State in the ACC with a win in Tallahassee on Saturday./
