Miami misses on local 4-star wide receiver
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound receiver is a Miami-area prospect who began his high school career at Miami Norland before moving to Chaminade-Madonna.
Strong is ranked No. 154 nationally, No. 22 among wide receivers and No. 24 in Florida in the 247Sports rankings for the 2028 class.
Chaminade-Madonna has consistently produced Power Four talent, particularly at wide receiver, and Strong has the ability to become another major name from the program.
The commitment is a quick win for Sumrall's staff in its first full offseason at Florida. Sumrall arrived in Gainesville after leading Troy and Tulane, and the Gators have made an aggressive push to recruit South Florida under the new staff. Strong is the Gators' first commitment in that cycle.
The Hurricanes still have a long time to build their receiver board for the class of 2028, and recruit other blue-chip names across South Florida and beyond.
The Hurricanes have recruited wide receiver at a high level under Mario Cristobal and Malachi Toney's rise has also helped make the program attractive to young pass catchers who want to play in Shannon Dawson's offense.
Miami signed JoJo Trader, Ny Carr and Chance Robinson in 2024, followed with Malachi Toney, Joshua Moore and Daylyn Upshaw in 2025, then added Somourian Wingo, Milan Parris, Tyran Evans and Vance Spafford in the 2026 class.
In the final 247Sports Composite rankings, Wingo led the group as the No. 64 overall prospect and No. 10 wide receiver nationally, followed by Parris at No. 111 overall and No. 17 at the position. Vance Spafford finished No. 349 overall and No. 54 among receivers, while Tyran Evans ranked No. 963 overall and No. 126 at wide receiver.
