Florida State commit Za'Kari Johnson left Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday night impressed with Miami. After watching the Hurricanes beat Florida A&M 77-7, the Carol City standout said, "I'd love to be a Cane, man."

FSU commit could be close to flipping to Miami
Johnson committed to the Seminoles on July 14 and he has said that commitment "stands good right now." He has also praised Mike Norvell and said he hopes the coach stays in Tallahassee. Ironically, his tenure there has helped Miami steal FSU recruits over the last few years.
But for Miami fans, Johnson did call Miami his dream school before the visit, and this race is definitely not over.
Johnson was a Class of 2028 prospect before reclassifying into 2027 over the summer. In the 2028 cycle he ranked No. 122 nationally and No. 6 among athletes on 247Sports. Moving up a class dropped him out of the top 100, but he is still a four-star recruit.

In his 2024 season, Johnson logged 17 catches for 274 yards and two touchdowns.
In nine games last year for Plantation, Johnson carried the ball for 73 times for 777 yards and nine touchdowns. He completed 46 of 80 passes for 551 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions. And on defense he had 10 tackles, four pass breakups, one interception that was returned for a touchdown and one fumble recovery. He transferred to Carol City for his senior year after a spring at Cypress Bay.
