Former five-star defensive lineman Keeshawn Silver who entered the transfer portal from Kentucky will visit Florida, Miami, Michigan and USC per multiple media outlets. Silver had 26 tackles, one tackle for loss and one sack in 2024. Silver spent two seasons at Kentucky after being at North Carolina the prior two years.
North Carolina signed Silver in the 2021 class as the 31st prospect, eighth WR and top player in the Tar Heel state. Silver redshirted as a freshman after appearing in three games with North Carolina in 2021. The top game for Silver during his two seasons with North Carolina was three tackles in a 27-24 win over Miami in 2022.
After transferring from North Carolina, Silver had 17 tackles and 2.0 TFLs in his first season with Kentucky in 2023. At 6'4 and 336 pounds, Silver has the talent to be an impact player for Miami on the DL like Simeon Barrow did after transferring from Michigan State for the 2024 season.
Miami had by far the best season among the four programs Silver is considering with a 10-2 record. Florida and Michigan finished with a 7-5 record and USC was 6-6. With Barrow anchoring the Miami DL, the Hurricanes were 18th nationally allowing 110.08 rushing yards per game and 30th allowing 3.67 yards per carry.
In addition to losing Barrow, Miami also loses versatile DL Akheem Mesidor after the 2024 season. Miami returns an elite group of talented DL led by Ahmad Moten who played well in the second half of the season and five-star 2024 signee Justin Scott. Silver would provide Miami with experience on the DL.
Scott was the highest-ranked of a deep group of DL Miami signed in the 2024 class. Armondo Blount has the versatility to play edge rusher or DL. Expect Miami to be active in the transfer portal adding DL to provide experience to the young returning talent Miami projects to have on the 2025 roster.
