James Brockermeyer lands with Falcons after Miami center signs UDFA deal
Brockermeyer began his college career at Alabama, spent the 2024 season at TCU, and then arrived in Coral Gables for 2025. At TCU, he earned All-Big 12 honorable mention and allowed just one sack and eight quarterback pressures over the season.
Brockermeyer won Miami's starting center job and held it through a run that ended in the College Football Playoff national championship game.
The Falcons came out of the weekend with six drafted players: Clemson cornerback Avieon Terrell at No. 48, Georgia wide receiver Zachariah Branch at No. 79, Oklahoma linebacker Kendal Daniels at No. 134, Washington defensive tackle Anterio Thompson at No. 208, LSU linebacker Harold Perkins Jr. at No. 215 and Ohio State tackle Ethan Onianwa at No. 231.
Miami had a very good 2026 NFL Draft
The Hurricanes had nine players drafted in the 2026 NFL draft — a record for Miami under HC Mario Cristobal.
On the opening night of the NFL draft, Canes fans saw OL Francis Mauigoa go No. 10 to the New York Giants, EDGE Rueben Bain Jr. go No. 15 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and DL Akheem Mesidor go No. 22 to the Los Angeles Chargers.
On Day 2, QB Carson Beck went to the Arizona Cardinals, OL Markel Bell went to the Philadelphia Eagles and DB Jakobe Thomas went to the Minnesota Vikings. For Day 3, DB Keionte Scott was selected by the Bucs, OL Anez Cooper was picked by the Jets and WR CJ Daniels went to the Rams after Los Angeles traded up to get him.
