After playing his first three college football seasons at Miami, former Hurricanes defensive back Jaden Harris is back in the transfer portal. Although he got to play closer to home upon transferring to Georgia this past offseason, he was nowhere near as produtive while playing for Kirby Smart's Bulldogs in 2025. With one more year of eligibility left, Harris is back in the transfer portal once again.
Harris only had six tackles at Georgia last year, after having 40 and an interception at Miami in 2024...

The other interesting wrinkle in this is had Georgia taken care of business in the Sugar Bowl vs. the Ole Miss Rebels, the Dawgs would be taking on the Canes in the Fiesta Bowl as part of the national semifinals of the College Football Playoff. Instead, Trinidad Chambliss as the rest of the plucky Ole Miss squad will be taking on Miami in The Valley of the Sun with a national title bout berth on the line.
For now, it will be interesting to see where Harris decides to finish out his college football career at.
Jaden Harris found out fast that he did not have it better with Georgia
Look. Everybody transfers for different reasons. There may have been a multitude of reasons why Harris initially transferred to Georgia last offseason. It may have been a combination of playing closer to home, or potentially being part of a team he thought had a better shot of winning a national title than Miami. At this stage of the game, only one of those teams is left playing for it, and you know who.
Overall, Harris leaving Miami for Georgia did not work out for a plethora of reasons. From a Georgia standpoint, he clearly struggled to carve out a role within the context of Kirby Smart's defense. He is a former defensive back himself, so he has his hands all over that position group in Athens. We also have to understand that his protege in defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann was mostly a mess...
Ultimately, Mario Cristobal and the rest of the Miami coaching staff can use this to its advantage if it so chooses. Look. This was only Corey Hetherman's first year as the Hurricanes' defensive coordinator. He came over from Minnesota this past offseason. Maybe Harris was not a fit in his scheme, but we will never know... In the end, sometimes staying put is your best pathway forward.
Harris will likely be looking at a Power Four school in the portal after playing for Miami and Georgia.
