Once the 2024 campaign came to a close for the Miami Hurricanes football team, it didn't take long for head man Mario Cristobal to make a big change for his coaching staff, one that fans were hoping would get done.

That'd be defensive coordinator Lance Guidry getting fired, which really didn't come as a surprise when the news dropped on Dec. 31. The Miami defense was downright awful in '24, costing the team a shot at winning the ACC. It also kept the Canes out of the College Football Playoff.

A little less than a month after he was canned, however, Guidry has landed himself a new gig. According to 247Sports' Matt Zenitz, the veteran coach is heading to LSU to join Brian Kelly's staff as a defensive analyst:

LSU sure is collecting former Miami DCs. Keep in mind that LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker was Miami's defensive leader when Manny Diaz was still running the show in Coral Gables. Now, Guidry is set to work with him and Kelly in 2025.

Things simply didn't go according to plan for Guidry working under Cristobal. He joined the Miami staff in 2023 after spending the previous two seasons at Marshall. In Guidry's two seasons with the Canes, the defense was hard to watch, which is why Cristobal made a change.

Not long ago, it was announced that Corey Hetherman was making the move from Minnesota to Miami. Hetherman has already assured Canes fans that his unit is going to play physical and aggressive moving forward. With the new-look secondary too, people are excited.

At the end of the day, Guidry didn't get the job done with Miami during his time with the team. He'll look to get his career back on the right track with LSU, as Kelly himself is facing some pressure to get things moving in the right direction with the Tigers.
