"If you’re looking for the best team in college football… the Miami Hurricanes are firmly in that discussion." That was Jason McIntyre on The Herd after Miami’s 27–24 win over No. 6 Notre Dame, and the case is more than just a hot take. McIntyre compares Miami to some of the top teams in college football such as Ohio State, LSU, Clemson and Texas.
"I think Miami being good — and they are good — big sign for college football."Jason McIntyre

By the numbers: Miami vs Notre Dame
Miami protected the ball (zero giveaways), won time of possession 33:57–26:03, and finished the final two Notre Dame drives with sacks after Carter Davis’ 47-yard field goal put the Canes in front with 1:04 left. Carson Beck was steady (20-of-31, 205 yards, 2 TD), the defense limited the Irish to 314 total yards and 93 rushing yards (3.3 per carry), and Hard Rock was loud.
And this happened in front of basically the whole country. ABC’s broadcast averaged 10.8 million viewers and peaked at 11.8 million, making Miami–Notre Dame the second-most-watched game of Week 1 and ABC’s No. 2 Sunday Opener on record.
The Hurricanes jumped from No. 10 to No. 5 in the AP Top 25 released Tuesday, sitting behind only Ohio State (beat No. 1 Texas), Penn State, LSU (beat No. 4 Clemson) and Georgia.
"Their offensive line was impenetrable. Notre Dame could barely touch Carson Beck. They got him once I think in the 4th quarter. The ground game — solid. The wide receivers look like a track team. And Carson Beck, once again, looked the part as an NFL quarterback. I'm buying Miami folks."Jason McIntyre
There’s nothing crowned in September, and the next few weeks will shift some things again. But the Hurricanes just checked every box in their win over Notre Dame.
