Bruce Feldman of The Athletic named Miami right tackle Francis Mauigoa 16th on his annual list of freaks. Mauigoa has started all 26 games he has played in his Miami career. Miami signed Mauigoa as a five-star prospect in the 2023 class.
Mauigoa was 2024 second-team All-ACC, 2023 honorable mention All-ACC and a 2023 consensus freshman All-American. Pro Football Focus credited Mauigoa with allowing two combined sacks/hits on 534 pass-blocking snaps and he is the only FBS tackle with two or fewer knockdowns allowed on 500-plus pass-blocking snaps.
Mauigoa's 71.4 PFF pass-blocking grade since 2023 is tied for fourth among ACC tackles. Mauigoa improved from his freshman to sophomore year, allowing only one sack and 19 pressures in 2024, versus five sacks and 23 pressures in 2023, playing nearly 100 more pass-blocking snaps.
All 1,779 snaps for Mauigoa have been at right tackle in college. Paul Breti of Colts Wire stated in May, "Among all tackles, Mauigoa would rank 40th in pass-blocking efficiency, and he was 64th in PFF's run-blocking grade." David Lake of Inside the U quoted Feldman describing Mauigoa in The Athletic.

"The 6-6, 335-pounder clocked a 1.57 flying 10-yard split. His power output registered almost 10,000 watts, which is by far the most on the team, almost 1,000 watts more than the next player. Last year, Mauigoa measured at 9,274 watts. His max velocity is 18 mph and his vertical jump is 30 1/2 inches."Bruce Feldman, The Athletic
Mauigoa improved to five penalties allowed in 2024 after being flagged nine times during the 2023 season. If Mauigoa can continue to reduce the penalties called on him and the sacks he allows in 2025, he will be nearly impenetrable during the 2025 season.
Miami head coach Mario Cristobal said Mauigoa has "the most muscle density of any athlete we've had here at the University of Miami." NFL Draft Buzz reported Mauigoa is about 20 percent body fat and has run a 5.3 40-yard dash.
NFL Draft Buzz said of Mauigoa, "His blend of raw power, explosive athleticism, and technical growth has firmly established him as one of the premier offensive tackle prospects in the nation." Projected to be a top 15 to 20 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Mauigoa certainly qualifies.
