Greg McElroy sees what Miami fans are seeing. Carson Beck is dealing, and the Hurricanes look the part of a championship contending team. On his Always College Football show, the ESPN analyst opened by saying "Miami is on a mission," adding that his show was "probably the first that said, 'Yeah, I think Miami is the best team in the country.'" McElroy also mentioned that, "Carson Beck is playing out of his mind right now."

McElroy's praise came one day after Miami's 28–22 win at Florida State. Beck was efficient on the road as he went 20-of-27 for 241 yards and four touchdowns with no turnovers, building a 28–3 lead late in the third quarter before the Seminoles' late push. Two of those scores went to Malachi Toney and two to CJ Daniels. Miami allowed only one sack, ball security was perfect, and the Hurricanes finished plus-3 in turnover margin.

Through five games, Beck is at 1,213 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions with a QBR of 84.4.

Miami moved up to No. 2 in the Associated Press Top 25 on Sunday. Ohio State stayed No. 1 and Oregon slipped to No. 3. The move upward reflects what a lot of college football fans and media members are thinking right now: Miami just might be the best team in all of college football through the first six weeks of the season. McElroy mentioned that the first three quarters were so dominant, he almost became uninterested.

"For three quarters, I was debating whether I should change the channel. I had three TVs going. I had Texas A&M-Mississippi State on one side. I had Miami-Florida State in the middle. And on the other side, we were watching Kansas and UCF, which was a highly entertaining game. Those were the three games I had going there in the night cap as I sat there and watched from home. And I'm sitting there, I was like, do you guys want to change the Miami game? This game's over."
