Five-star freshman edge-rusher Hayden Lowe, the top prospect in the 2025 Miami football class, will miss the entire season, as confirmed by head coach Mario Cristobal on Monday. Cristobal informed the media about Lowe's status during his weekly meeting with reporters.

Lowe had not played against either Notre Dame or Bethune-Cookman in the first two games for Miami in 2025. Lowe was the only five-star prospect Miami signed in the 2025 class and the 16th-ranked player overall, No. 2 edge-rusher and No. 2 recruit from California.

Lowe had 159 tackles, 42.0 TFLs, 24.5 sacks, 29 quarterback hurries, two interceptions, 4.0 passes defended, five forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in his high school career at Westlake Village, California Oaks Christian, per MaxPreps.

Lowe was impressive during spring practice and was expected to contribute for Miami during the 2025 season. Miami has accumulated a lot of blue-chip prospects at edge-rusher in the past few classes. Rueben Bain and Akheem Mesidor provide Miami with a pair of elite starting edge-rushers right now. .

5-star Miami pass-rusher Hayden Lowe is officially out for the season

""Hayden Lowe will be out for the season...His injury is just a little bit more significant than what we thought. He'll come back strong and be ready for spring football, but he will be out for the season.""

Former five-star signees Armondo Blount and Marquise Lightfoot, plus veteran Malik Bryant and four-star true freshman Herbert Scroggins, provide Miami with exceptional depth at the position in 2025. Cristobal expects Lowe to be ready for spring practice and he said that he still has a bright future.

Miami expects to lose Bain to the 2026 NFL Draft and Mesidor is in his final season of collegiate eligibility. Lowe should return in 2026 with a chance to compete with Blount, Bryant, Lightfoot and Scroggins and any potential incoming transfers to be a starting edge-rusher next season.
