Here is what has to happen for Miami to make the ACC Championship Game

The scenarios for Miami to earn a berth in the ACC Championship Game were outlined by David Hale of ESPN. Hale rightfully started with Miami winning out at Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh in its final two games of the 2025 regular season.

Miami needs Pittsburgh to win at Georgia Tech on Saturday. Georgia Tech is a 2.5-point favorite over Pittsburgh in the FanDuel Sportsbook. Per the ESPN Football Power Index, Georgia Tech has a 57.0 percent chance of defeating Pittsburgh (67:00 PM ET, ESPN).

Miami needs SMU to lose its final two games. SMU is a 2.5-point favorite over Louisville on Saturday in Dallas (Noon, ESPN2). The ESPN FPI projects SMU with a 67.9 percent chance of beating Louisville. SMU has an 80.3 percent chance of winning at California in its final 2025 regular-season game.

Miami needs Duke to lose either at North Carolina on Saturday or versus Wake Forest on November 29. Duke is a 6.5-point favorite over UNC. The ESPN FPI projects Duke with a 76.5 percent chance to defeat UNC. Duke has a 70.3 percent chance to beat Wake Forest.

If all of the results for Miami to stay in the race for an ACC Championship occur this week Miami would need Virginia Tech to win at Virginia in the final game of the regular season on November 29. The ESPN FPI projects Virginia with an 80.7 percent chance to beat Virginia Tech.

Virginia Tech has won four consecutive games against Virginia Tech. The Hokies have won 19 out of the last 20 games against the Cavaliers. Virginia is off this week. The Cavaliers need to beat Virginia Tech and have Pittsburgh and SMU lose one of their last two games to make the ACC Championship Game.

Six teams remain alive to earn a berth in the ACC Championship Game. Virginia has the best chance to earn an ACC Championship game berth at 82 percent per PlayoffStatus.com. Georgia Tech is second at 73 percent, followed by SMU at 25 percent, Pittsburgh at 14 percent, Miami at four percent and Duke at two percent.
