Miami and Florida State will play a single non-conference baseball game on April 6 at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, the first time the programs have been limited to one meeting in a season since their series began in 1951.

Florida State released its 55-game schedule on Oct. 6, and Miami released its 54-game schedule on Oct. 29. The game will act as a neutral-site non-conference game, so it will not count toward either team's ACC record.
Miami-FSU baseball rivalry
The programs have met 308 times through 2026, with the Seminoles holding a 166-138-4 all-time advantage. The schools first played in 1951, and in every season in which they have faced each other since then they have played multiple games. The only seasons without a meeting were 1953, 1954, 1959, 1964 and 2020.
Before Miami joined the ACC, the programs often played separate three-game series in both Coral Gables and Tallahassee in the same season.
The teams last played a three-game ACC series May 14-16, 2026. Florida State won two of the three games, including an 11-inning victory in the opener after trailing 6-1 and an 11-1 run-rule win the next day. Miami took the finale 7-4.
ACC involvement with the series
In 2014 the ACC addressed the possibility of rotating traditional rivals off each other's baseball schedules. The ACC then announced that beginning in 2015, primary playing partners would receive protected conference matchups. The league specifically named Miami-Florida State, North Carolina-NC State and Georgia Tech-Clemson as series that schools wanted played every year.
The 2027 ACC baseball schedule continues to do a 30-game format of 10 three-game series for each of the 16 baseball-playing members. With California and Stanford now in the conference, each school faces 10 of the other 15 programs and misses five.
Miami's conference opponents include home series against Clemson, Stanford, Virginia, North Carolina and Pittsburgh, plus road series at California, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Louisville and Georgia Tech.
Similar situation for Virginia-Virginia Tech
Virginia and Virginia Tech will also not play a three-game ACC series in 2027 for the first time since 2005. The schools will instead play a single non-conference game on March 23 at a location still to be determined.
