On defense, the Hurricanes came in strong with an 88 defensive rating, ranking 15th nationally and second only to Clemson in the ACC. Miami also checks in at an 86 overall team rating, slotting in as the 11th-best team in the game. These grades arrive as College Football 26 heads into its July 10 launch (with deluxe editions arriving July 7). Last year was a major success for EA, so the overalls and ratings are at the top of the priority list to appease such a dedicated fanbase.
From Miami’s viewpoint, the 89 offense rating aligns with optimism from last season. Under OC Shannon Dawson, the Canes averaged 43.9 points per game, powered by QB Cam Ward. With Carson Beck entering the fold and a ton of new transfers, Miami could find themselves among the top offensive teams in the country once more.
That 86 overall rating is good for Miami too. EA’s ratings show fewer inflated numbers this year as no team cracked 90 overall. Miami’s spot among the Top 15 shows enough respect that fans can't really be mad at the ranking. Beyond the team numbers, player ratings were also revealed. OT Francis Mauigoa is a 93 OVR, edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr. sits at a 92, Beck is a 91 and several other players rated in the mid‑80s.
Also, do not forget to play with Miami if you have the game. EA will pay the universities for how often the teams are used in gameplay. In theory, this would help programs keep athletes who drive up the usage in the game by paying them part of the money they bring in from EA's College Football 26.
