The loss by Texas at Georgia on Saturday should allow Miami to move up to at least 14th when the Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today Coaches polls are released on Sunday afternoon. Oklahoma's upset at Alabama was not the result Miami needed for its attempt to earn a College Football Playoff berth.

Texas was the only team ranked in front of Miami that lost on Saturday. The 23-21 win by Oklahoma at Alabama on Saturday should move the Sooners into the top 10. Alabama and Oklahoma both have two losses. A third loss likely would have eliminated Oklahoma from the CFP and dropped them below Miami.

Alabama should fall to at least ninth behind Oklahoma and the one-loss teams in the AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches poll. Alabama's other loss was at Florida State in the season opener. Despite Miami's win over Florida State, it is highly unlikely that Alabama will drop below the Hurricanes.

Miami was ahead of ACC rival Georgia Tech in the CFP rankings, but behind the Yellow Jackets in the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches polls. Georgia Tech needed a field goal with 11 seconds remaining for a 36-34 win over Boston College. The Eagles fell to 1-9 with the loss to the Yellow Jackets.

Vanderbilt, 13th in the AP Top 25 and 14th in the USA Today Coaches poll, was on a bye this week. Utah, 15th in both national polls and 13th in the CFP rankings, won 55-28 at Baylor on Saturday. Miami, Utah and Vanderbilt should all pass Georgia Tech and Texas when the polls are released on Sunday.

BYU, 12th in the CFP, the AP Top 25 and tied there with Georgia Tech in the USA Today Coaches Poll, beat TCU 44-13. BYU plays at Cincinnati on Saturday. Arizona beat Cincinnati on Saturday. Expect Cincinnati to drop out of the polls on Sunday and the CFP rankings on Tuesday.

Miami has to continue winning convincingly in its final two games at Virginia Tech on Saturday and Pittsburgh on November 29. With the CFP including a Group of Five champion, Miami will likely need to be 11th in the final rankings on December 7 to earn a berth in the postseason tournament.
