How to watch where Miami places in week 3 CFP rankings
The third 2024 College Football Playoff rankings will be released on Tuesday at 7 PM Eastern Time on ESPN. Miami fell from fourth to ninth in their second release of the 2024 CFP Rankings last week after their loss to Georgia Tech. Miami should move up one or two spots after BYU and Tennessee lost this weekend.
Miami had a bye this past weekend. BYU, ranked sixth last week, lost 17-13 versus Kansas on Saturday. Tennessee will fall from seventh in the rankings after losing 31-17 at Georgia on Saturday. The Volunteers led the Bulldogs 10-0 at the end of the first quarter in Athens before Georgia dominated the final three quarters.
Oregon, Ohio State, Texas, Penn State and Indiana should remain first through fifth in this week's CFP Rankings. Indiana is at Ohio State on Saturday. Notre Dame was eighth last week as the sole team in front of Miami. Notre Dame beat Army 44-6 on Saturday and will move up in the rankings.
Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia are the rest of the top 13. Boise State is 13th and would be in the CFP as the highest ranked Group of Five Champion. SMU is 14th and was the second team out of the CFP after Georgia last week. Boise State has passed BYU in the national polls and would currently get the fourth CFP Bye.

There are three weeks left in the season before the inaugural 12-team CFP is set. Miami hosts Wake Forest on Saturday before finishing the regular season at Syracuse. If Miami wins those two games they will play in the ACC Championship Game on December 7 in Charlotte, likely against SMU.
If Miami loses one of its last two games, they need SMU to lose twice to have a chance to earn an ACC Championship Game berth. The task for Miami is simple. If Miami wins its last two regular season games and the ACC Championship they will make the CFP and receive a bye to the quarterfinals.
