Louisville scored the first 14 points and Carson Beck threw his fourth interception with Miami driving for the potential game-tying field goal in a 24-21 loss. Outside of a great effort from Malachi Toney, Miami's offense struggled for most of the game.

Toney had nine receptions for 135 yards, two carries for 14 yards and a touchdown and completed a two-point conversion pass to C.J. Daniels in one of his best games to date. Miami finished with 334 total yards to 367 for Louisville.

Beck completed 25 passes in 35 attempts for 271 yards and did not have a touchdown pass for the second time this season. He frequently tried to force long passes when intermediate completions seemed available. The Hurricanes run game was ineffective with 24 carries for 63 yards.

Miami never had the ball on offense without a deficit on Friday night. Louisville went 11 plays, 75 yards in 6:05 that culminated with a one-yard Miller Moss TD run. Louisville kept the drive alive with a fake field goal from the four-yard line that gave them first and goal at the Miami one.

After Miami went three and out, Louisville went 46 in four plays in 2:06 to take a 14-0 lead on a 35-yard TD reception by Chris Bell. Bell had nine receptions for 136 yards with a 35-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter that ended up being the game-winning score.

Isaac Brown had 15 carries for 113 yards, but a key fumble in the fourth quarter preceded the TD run by Toney to get Miami back into the game. The fourth interception by Beck came with Mami on the Louisville 31 with 33 seconds remaining and in position for a Carter Davis potential game-tying field goal.

The Hurricanes simply had too many mistakes. In addition to the early 14-0 deficit and the four interceptions thrown by Beck (which were a career high), Miami had nine penalties for 68 yards. Louisville committed six penalties for 64 yards.

Miami remains home on October 25 against Stanford. The Cardinal are 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the ACC going into Saturday night's game against Florida State. With the Hurricanes first conference loss, iDuke, Georgia Tech and Virginia are the last teams undefeated in conference play. Duke and Georgia Tech will play Saturday afternoon.
