Miami safety Jakobe Thomas was named the Pro Football Focus Coverage Defender of the Week and to the National Team of the Week for his performance at Florida State. Miami edge rusher Rueben Bain, Thomas and Hurricanes' wide receiver Malachi Toney were named week six PFF All-ACC.
Thomas earned the highest PFF Grade for Miami after he had five tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss, 1.0 sack, one interception, two pass breakups and a forced fumble. Only a quarterback hurry was missing for Thomas to fill up the official defensive stat categories completely.
Thomas led a Miami secondary that was extremely productive against Florida State. Four of the top seven players for Miami, as graded by PF,F were in the secondary. Safety Bryce Fitzgerald, with an interception, was the fourth-highest graded Miami player, nickel Keionte Scott was sixth and cornerback Damari Brown, seventh.
Bain had four tackles, two QB hits, 11 QB Pressures, a 90.1 overall grade, 90.7 PFF Pass Rush Grade and a 32 percent win rate against Florida State. Bain and the Miami defense had 42 pressures on 88 offensive snaps for a 47.7 percent pressure rate against Florida State.

Thomas earned a 93.1 PFF overall grade after an impressive outing in Miami’s win over Florida State. He was targeted eight times in coverage, and while he did give up three receptions and a touchdown, he also came away with an interception and a pair of pass breakups."
Toney had seven receptions for 107 yards and two touchdowns and a 52-yard touchdown was called back because of an illegal motion penalty. Toney was the third-highest graded Miami player against Florida State, behind Thomas and Bain at 85.3.
Toney was targeted nine times against Florida State. Per PFF via David Lake of Inside the U, Toney averaged 9.7 yards after the receptions and the average depth of target to him was 8.9 yards. Toney had one reception for 44 yards and a TD on deep routes and caught two of three targets for 46 yards and a TD on short routes.
PFF continues to be high on Miami, ranking the Hurricanes number one in their top 25 and as the highest-seeded team in the College Football Playoff in separate articles. In both articles, it was mentioned Bain is the highest-graded player by PFF nationally at 95.9.
