The Miami Hurricanes are fresh off a win over the Boston College Eagles and are about to host the North Carolina Tar Heels, who are fresh off a big-time win over their rivals, the Duke Blue Devils.
Now, the Canes are looking to upset the No. 11 Tar Heels as March, and all that it entails, rapidly flies into focus.
Beyond the pressure of the game itself, the Canes and head coach Jai Lucas are also hosting five-star point guard Cayden Daughtry for the high-stakes matchup.
Cayden Daughtry is coming to Coral Gables
Daughtry is the No. 4 point guard and No. 16 overall prospect in the class of 2027. With his high ranking, he has unsurprisingly received offers from programs across the country, including the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines, 22 BYU Cougars, and more.
Now, Miami has a perfect opportunity to not only prove its worth to the nation as a genuine contender for the postseason, but also to Daughtry as he sits in the Watsco Center for the Hurricanes' game against the Tar Heels.

5-star point guard Cayden Daughtry will be in attendance for tomorrow nights game versus North Carolina https://t.co/Zb445CzgHJ
Daughtry is a Florida native, giving the Canes a slight leg up over most other programs that have offered him. However, he has made just one visit throughout his recruitment process so far, spending time with the Wolverines last October.
Currently, recruiting experts are leaning toward Daughtry committing to the Canes, the Wolverines, the Iowa Hawkeyes, or the Florida State Seminoles, despite the young point guard still having over a year until he graduates from high school.
However, the Canes have continued to see fairly good success on the recruiting trail since Lucas took over the program. So far, he has landed one five-star recruit in the class of 2026: power forward Caleb Gaskins, and is fresh off a top-25 class of 2025.
The Canes and the Heels are scheduled to tip off (with Daughtry in attendance) at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Feb. 10, and the game will be available on ESPN.
