When Jai Lucas was hired as Miami head coach on March 10, the Hurricanes had no players in the 2025 class. Despite being four months behind the early signing period and a month ahead of the spring signing period, Lucas has signed a top 20 class for Miami.

Lucas had to rebuild the entire Miami roster from 2024-25. Miami is 17th in the 247Sports 2025 composite class rankings. Four-star forward Treyvon Maddox, who signed with Miami on Sunday, will likely complete the six-man 2025 class for the Hurricanes.

Maddox is the third four-star 2025 prospect to sign with Miami, joining small forward Shelton Henderson and combo guard Dante Allen. Allen, Henderson and three-star point guard John Leboy are all enrolled. Miami also signed Turkish center Salih Altuntas and Czech SF Timotej Malovec.

The 2025 Miami class is balanced well with the Hurricanes' 21st-ranked transfer class. Miami signed center Ernest Udeh Jr., combo guard Jordan Kee, point guard Tre Donaldson, shooting guard Tru Washington and PFs Dante Allen and Malik Reneau as transfers for 2025-26.

Donaldson, Henderson, Reneau, Udeh and Washington are the projected starters for Miami in 2025-26. Washington, who is a junior, is the only non-senior among the projected transfer starters for Miami in 2025-26. Marcus Allen is a sophomore and Kee a redshirt freshman, among the other Miami incoming transfers.

Allen and Henderson are ranked in the top 35 players in the 2025 class. Lucas has done an exceptional job of building a solid roster of experienced incoming transfers who project to make an impact in 2025-26, young players through the Transfer Portal and freshmen to set a foundation for the future.

Lucas was hired in part because of his reputation as an elite recruiter. In less than three months as the Miami head coach, Lucas has exceeded his reputation. Miami should contend for an 2026 NCAA Tournament berth and with the talent on the roster, be in the top half of the ACC.
